TEXAS SCRATCH LEAGUE HISTORY
In the summer of 2012, local Austin DJ's, Abe The Assassin and LA.D.DA, were asked to volunteer their time for weekly Turntablism workshops at, Austin based DJ school, Dub Academy. Week after week this workshop grew into an over capacity weekly scratch session. After 12 weeks the workshops came to an end and questions and requests about future sessions started. The pair spit balled ideas of more cut sessions and on January 15th 2013 in Abe's home studio, Texas Scratch League was born. Offering weekly scratch sessions, BBQ, Topo Chico, chips and Abe's famous homemade salsa, the gathering grew into dozens of Tablist joining in. Within weeks, sessions out grew the home studio and planning for bigger sessions began. On August 6th 2013, TSL held their official "kick off" party at the first annual "Cut Fest".
Since then TSL has hosted "Turkey Cuts" every November. They have also added quarterly Instagram scratch battles called "Instacuts" along with "City Cuts". (Which is a scratch gathering in each of the major cities in Texas). They have also brought on board Representatives to help them reach out to every corner of Texas.
Texas Scratch League continues to grow with the sole purpose of helping, promoting, supporting, featuring and showcasing Texas Tablist. Our goal is to build a platform for Texas Tablist to shine. We hope to provide the world with the access to the talent that Texas has to offer in the way of Turntablism. We appreciate all of your support, no matter what state, region or country you're from.
