WEB LAUNCH PARTY
Yeah buddy! SXSW in Austin, Tx always has the funnest parties! DJ's and bands from all over the world come through and get down with the locals. Texas Scratch League's Web Launch Party at The Market (319 Colorado St.) was no different. DJ Dynamix, Mike 2600, Boi Jeanius and PrimeTyme, all from various parts of the U.S, blessed us with their brand of Turntablism and Party Rockin' skills. While Texas greats - Mister Remix, Rockwell and the newly formed duo of Swift Style and Buck Rodgers dropped some serious heat for the crowd. Speaking of Buck Rodgers. The current scratch champ found himself defending his title against ex-champ Dopez. After a hard fought 3 rounds, Dopez regained the covenant TSL "Bragging Rights" trophy. DJ City and TSL provided swag bags for the winners. While Mega DJ Center offered the new champion a pair of Thud Rumble Ortofon needles complete with The Black Box carrying case. TURKEY CUTS
What a great night at Barcelona (209 E. 6th St.) Tablist from all over Texas came out to support the 2nd Annual Turkey Cuts at Barcelona (Nicknamed the Bass Cave!) in Austin, TX. Big Once (Chicago) came through and showcased a really dope set! Alpha Leone's showcase brought the bass! It was also awards time! Skratch Daily received the Tablist Of The Year Award. Buck Rodgers won New Comer Of The Year. We also honored Nick Nack and Enfoe with the Texas Legends Award for all of their years of contibution and service to Turntablism in Texas. Once again we hosted the Mini Cuts Battles. Those winners were: Dopez (Crab Battle) | Akshun Kid (Chirp Battle) | Alpha Leone (Stab Battle) We also had the InstaCuts Semi-Final round! MixMash Potatoes vs. Dopez. What a battle that was! 4 rounds of extreme cuts! In the end Dopez advanced to the Championship round and will be facing Buck Rodgers for the title. AUGUST 5TH 2014 CUT FEST
Did you miss the 2nd Annual Cut Fest at Amped (300 E. 6th St.) in the heart of downtown Austin, TX? Cut Fest has become a "Family Reunion" of sorts for Texas Tablist. For the past two years TSL has brought Tablist together to enjoy a night of cuts, battles and performances. It's all about having a good time and reconnecting with pals from across the great state of Texas. 2014's Cut Fest saw a new Texas scratch champion emerge, as Buck Rodgers passed MixMash Potatoes in the Semi-final round as he went on to defeat Dopez for the 2014 title. Dj City was on hand, supporting in a major way. While Mega DJ Center contributed (as always) with swag and championship gear. Rockwell and Mister Remix also performed a stellar 2x4 set. Combining Turntablism and Party Rocking, these two Tablist have steadily devolped a seamless showcase. The Mini Cut battles were a hit as always. Tablist have the chance to compete in groups of 4 in categories like the Chirp, the Stab and the Crab battle. Winner takes home the TSL Mini Cut champion medal. Thanks for supporting Cut Fest! 2015 will be even bigger! Make plans early to be there. Cut Fest is held the first week of August every year.
